Candidates are nominated for membership and sponsored by existing members of the Academy. One individual member will propose the nominee and the application must be supported by a further two individual members of the Academy. Applications for admission to the Academy are accepted every 2 years.

Proposers and sponsoring members subscriptions must be fully paid up for the committee to consider the application. Proposers and sponsors must be individual members and not representatives of institutions, centres, museums or schools and universities.

The Proposer takes responsibility for compiling the applicant's file which consists of:

  • 5 high quality digital images of his/her current work in JPEG format on CD.
  • the full description of the work ( title, size, material) on the CD.
  • curriculum vitae (resume) including the date of birth and the address, phone, fax, email and website - on the CD.
  • a letter of motivation from the applicant, giving the reasons why they are interested to join the IAC
  • one letter from the proposer and 2 sponsors explaining the reasons for nominating the candidate (3 letters) - on the CD.
  • Supporting documents - catalogs, magazines, articles, books etc may be sent by post accompanying the CD.
  • The proposer must also ensure that sponsors are fully apid members.

APPLICATION FEE

  • Applicants must also send with the application file a payment of 150 swiss francs. This is a non-refundable payment to cover administration costs. If the applicant is successful, then the application fee becomes the subscription fee for the following year. Should the applicant not be successful then the fee is retained by the IAC.

This completed application file on a CD will be sent by the main sponsor to the IAC Office, six months before the Council meeting which will jury the application. For applications for 2012/2013 the files must be at the office in Geneva no later than 31st January, 2013.

Successful candidates, elected by the Council, and their works will be presented to the following General Assembly by the President of the Academy.



Successful candidates agree to pay an annual membership fee. The following fees are payable annually by our members on submission of an invoice from the Secretariat.

Individual member CHF 150.– (artist, collector, writer, curator, promoter, gallery)
Schools and centres CHF 200.– (ceramic centres, schools, universities, societies and associations, museum
