| It is a sober humour that infuses much of my work whether it is 2D or 3D inform. Such images as dance, targets, idols and icons all reflect certain parts of my life. Reality and illusion, physical or implied, are all used to actualise my ideas.
After a solid beginning in pottery, sculpture/object making developed and this work was some of the first in the mid-west USA to align with the California Funk movement. Current work can be seen as part of a continuum which reflects an interest in the human figure and human condition.
After many years teaching, retirement from Texas Tech University came with Professor Emeritus status. My full time is now put into studio work. Recent efforts have returned to an emphasis on drawing whether on paper or on the surface of 3D forms or ceramic plates, all of which are humorous, satirical or serious in thrust. |
