Henry J. Reynaud, fondateur de l'AIC, a souhait\u00e9 un partenariat avec l'UNESCO d\u00e8s les d\u00e9buts de l'Acad\u00e9mie. Apr\u00e8s 5 ans de travail acharn\u00e9, en 1958, Reynaud a atteint son objectif et l'AIC s'est affili\u00e9e \u00e0 l'UNESCO, d'abord \u00e0 titre consultatif, puis, depuis 2001, en tant que partenaire officiel dans le secteur culturel.<\/p>\r\n

L'AIC d'aujourd'hui continue de respecter ses pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseurs et les id\u00e9aux qu'ils ont inspir\u00e9s, en \u0153uvrant quotidiennement pour la paix et la libert\u00e9 d'expression, en soutenant la libre cr\u00e9ation \u00e0 travers le monde, en promouvant l'\u00e9galit\u00e9 des genres, en luttant pour la reconnaissance du statut des artistes, en d\u00e9fendant le patrimoine mat\u00e9riel et immat\u00e9riel, en prot\u00e9geant l'environnement. L'interculturalit\u00e9 et la diplomatie culturelle sont l'un des moyens les plus efficaces de faire respecter et de d\u00e9fendre ces valeurs.<\/p>\r\n

Le r\u00f4le de l'AIC \u00e0 l'UNESCO fait l'objet d'un examen r\u00e9gulier. Il est important que l'AIC maintienne des liens \u00e9troits avec l'organisation, sans quoi elle risque de perdre son statut. La principale force de l'Acad\u00e9mie est son universalit\u00e9, tant en termes de support unique - commun \u00e0 tant de cultures - qu'en termes de membres. Une telle dimension internationale devrait permettre \u00e0 l'AIC de d\u00e9velopper des projets pragmatiques et consensuels \u00e0 proposer \u00e0 ses membres ainsi qu'aux autres ONG membres de l'UNESCO.<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n

Le repr\u00e9sentant de l'AIC aupr\u00e8s de l'UNESCO tient le Conseil et les membres de l'AIC inform\u00e9s des activit\u00e9s de l'organisation, et entretient et d\u00e9veloppe nos r\u00e9seaux internationaux. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette repr\u00e9sentation, l'AIC est en mesure de mettre en \u0153uvre et de d\u00e9velopper des projets qui r\u00e9pondent aux exigences du partenariat de l'AIC.<\/p>\r\n

    ACTIVIT\u00c9S DE L'AIC EN RELATION AVEC L'UNESCO<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

    Partenariat avec la Fondation Culture & Diversit\u00e9<\/span>
    L'AIC poursuit sa collaboration de longue date avec la Fondation Culture & Diversit\u00e9, qui offre des bourses couvrant l'int\u00e9gralit\u00e9 des frais de r\u00e9sidence et de stage internationaux en c\u00e9ramique \u00e0 des \u00e9tudiants fran\u00e7ais issus de milieux d\u00e9favoris\u00e9s. Chaque ann\u00e9e, un ou deux \u00e9tudiants sont s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s pour b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d'un soutien financier complet, comprenant les frais de voyage, d'h\u00e9bergement, de restauration et de mat\u00e9riel.
    \u00c0 ce jour, les r\u00e9sidences ont principalement eu lieu en Chine, gr\u00e2ce au soutien de l'universit\u00e9 de c\u00e9ramique de Jingdezhen. Il est toutefois pr\u00e9vu d'\u00e9tendre ces opportunit\u00e9s \u00e0 l'Am\u00e9rique latine, \u00e0 l'Afrique et \u00e0 l'Asie du Sud-Est. L'AIC soutient le programme en identifiant des ateliers de c\u00e9ramique d'accueil et des professionnels dispos\u00e9s \u00e0 fournir un accompagnement artistique, un mentorat et un environnement de travail s\u00fbr.     Collection internationale de timbres sur le patrimoine c\u00e9ramique<\/span>
    L'AIC a soumis une proposition au programme M\u00e9moire du monde de l'UNESCO en vue de la reconnaissance d'une collection internationale unique de timbres-poste sur le th\u00e8me de la c\u00e9ramique. D\u00e9velopp\u00e9e au fil de nombreuses ann\u00e9es par Guangzhen \u00ab Po \u00bb Zhou, membre de l'AIC, avec la contribution de membres du monde entier, la collection comprend environ 3 000 timbres provenant de plus de 160 pays et r\u00e9gions. Elle constitue une encyclop\u00e9die virtuelle de l'histoire et des cultures de la c\u00e9ramique et continue de s'enrichir gr\u00e2ce aux contributions r\u00e9guli\u00e8res des membres et collaborateurs de l'AIC.     Soir\u00e9e AIC\/UNESCO \u2013 Congr\u00e8s de Jingdezhen 2026<\/span>
    Le 29 juin 2026, une soir\u00e9e AIC\/UNESCO sera organis\u00e9e dans le cadre du Congr\u00e8s de Jingdezhen 2026, perp\u00e9tuant ainsi la tradition de l'Acad\u00e9mie d'organiser des \u00e9v\u00e9nements qui mettent en avant les valeurs communes avec l'UNESCO. Collaboration avec la Fondation Culture & Diversit\u00e9 (depuis 2010)<\/span>
Dans le cadre du programme \u00ab Voyager pour apprendre les m\u00e9tiers \u00bb, en partenariat avec l'UNESCO, l'AIC a favoris\u00e9 l'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la formation artisanale pour les jeunes issus de milieux prioritaires en mati\u00e8re d'\u00e9ducation :<\/p>\r\n

  • Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la coordination locale de Loul Combres (membre de l'AIC et ancien repr\u00e9sentant aupr\u00e8s de l'UNESCO), le site de poterie de Saint-Jean-de-Fos (H\u00e9rault, France) a accueilli des \u00e9tudiants afin qu'ils d\u00e9veloppent leurs comp\u00e9tences en c\u00e9ramique dans le cadre d'ateliers b\u00e9n\u00e9voles. Parmi les b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires figurent Tejal Mehendale (Inde, 2018) et Maria Elena Papuico Navarro (P\u00e9rou, 2019).<\/li>\r\n
  • Opportunit\u00e9s de r\u00e9sidence en Chine : l'AIC a propos\u00e9 deux opportunit\u00e9s de r\u00e9sidence en Chine (Jingdezhen et Longquan) \u00e0 la Fondation Culture & Diversit\u00e9 pour les \u00e9tudiants fran\u00e7ais issus de l'enseignement prioritaire.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

    Engagement dans des initiatives li\u00e9es \u00e0 l'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'eau et \u00e0 l'assainissement<\/span>
    L'AIC s'est associ\u00e9 \u00e0 un groupe de six ONG impliqu\u00e9es dans les actions de suivi du Forum \u00ab L'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'eau pour tous \u00bb (Yamoussoukro, C\u00f4te d'Ivoire, 2014). En coop\u00e9ration avec le Comit\u00e9 intersectoriel du Programme de participation de l'UNESCO, ce travail se concentre sur la formation de techniciens en hydrologie dans les domaines de l'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'eau potable, de la gestion des eaux us\u00e9es et des infrastructures d'assainissement. Gr\u00e2ce au Programme de participation, l'AIC a soutenu trois formations r\u00e9ussies en hydrologie (2019, 2022\/23, 2024\/25), en partenariat avec des ONG locales, d'abord au Niger, puis au B\u00e9nin. Les formations ont eu lieu au Centre de formation 2IE \u00e0 Ouagadougou, au Burkina Faso.<\/p>\r\n

    Projet \u00ab Clay for Peace \/ Clay without Borders \u00bb<\/span>
    Con\u00e7u et lanc\u00e9 par Jacques Kaufmann, ancien pr\u00e9sident de l'AIC, ce projet phare de l'AIC met en avant l'argile \u2013 brute ou cuite, traditionnelle ou contemporaine \u2013 comme vecteur de dialogue, de r\u00e9conciliation et de paix, en particulier au Moyen-Orient. La premi\u00e8re phase organisationnelle s'est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e en Turquie, en juillet 2019.<\/p>\r\n

    Participation aux forums des ONG de l'UNESCO et aux journ\u00e9es internationales<\/span>

      Henry J. Reynaud, founder of the IAC, coveted a partnership with UNESCO since the Academy's early days. After 5 years of dedicated work, in 1958, Reynaud achieved his goal and the IAC became affiliated with UNESCO, first on a consultative basis and then, since 2001, as an official partner in the cultural sector.<\/p>\r\n

      The IAC of today continues to respect its predecessors and the ideals they inspired, working daily for peace and freedom of expression, supporting free creation throughout the world, promoting gender equality, fighting for recognition of the status of artists, defending tangible and intangible heritage, protecting the environment. One of the most effective means of upholding and defend these values is through inter-culturality and cultural diplomacy.<\/p>\r\n

      The IAC's role at UNESCO is kept under regular review. It is important for the IAC to maintain strong ties with the organisation, otherwise it risks losing its status. The Academy's main strength is its universality, both in terms of a single medium - common to so many cultures - and in terms of its membership. Such an international dimension should enable the IAC to develop pragmatic and consensus-based projects to propose to its members as well as to the other NGO members of UNESCO.<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n

      The IAC representative to UNESCO keeps the IAC Council and members informed of the organisation's activities, as well as maintains and advances our international networks. Through this representation, the IAC is able to implement and develop projects that meet the requirements of the IAC partnership.<\/p>\r\n

      • ESTABLISHED IAC ACTIVITIES RELATED TO UNESCO<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

        Partnership with the Fondation Culture & Diversit\u00e9<\/span>
        The IAC continues its long-standing collaboration with the French Fondation Culture & Diversit\u00e9, which provides scholarships covering the full cost of international residencies and internships in ceramics for French students from priority education backgrounds. Each year, one or two students are selected to receive comprehensive financial support, including travel, accommodation, food and materials. To date, residencies have primarily taken place in China, thanks to the support of Jingdezhen Ceramic University. There are plans, however, to expand opportunities to Latin America, Africa, and South-East Asia. The IAC supports the programme by identifying host ceramic studios and professionals willing to provide artistic guidance, mentoring and a safe working environment.         International Ceramic Heritage Stamps Collection<\/span>
        The IAC has submitted a proposal to UNESCO\u2019s Memory of the World Programme for the recognition of a unique international collection of ceramic-themed postage stamps. Developed over many years by IAC member Guangzhen 'Po' Zhou, with contributions from IAC members worldwide, the collection comprises around 3,000 stamps from over 160 countries and regions. It forms a virtual encyclopaedia of ceramic history and cultures and continues to grow through ongoing contributions from IAC members and collaborators. Read more here<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\r\n

        IAC\/UNESCO Evening \u2013 2026 Jingdezhen Congress<\/span>
        On 29 June 2026, an IAC\/UNESCO Evening is being organised as part of the 2026 Jingdezhen Congress, continuing the Academy\u2019s tradition of holding events that highlight shared values with UNESCO. A detailed programme will be announced in due course.<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n

      Collaboration with the Culture & Diversity Foundation (since 2010)<\/span>
      As part of the UNESCO-partnered programme \u201cTraveling to Learn Crafts\u201d, the IAC has supported access to craft training for young people from priority education backgrounds:<\/p>\r\n

      • Through local coordination by Loul Combres (IAC member and former representative to UNESCO), the pottery site of Saint-Jean-de-Fos (H\u00e9rault, France) hosted students to develop ceramic skills in volunteer workshops. Beneficiaries include Tejal Mehendale (India, 2018) and Maria Elena Papuico Navarro (Peru, 2019).<\/li>\r\n
      • Residency opportunities in China: the IAC has proposed two host residency opportunities in China (Jingdezhen and Longquan) to the Culture & Diversity Foundation for French students from priority education.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

        Engagement in water access and sanitation initiatives<\/span>
        The IAC joined a group of six NGOs involved in follow-up actions to the Forum on \u201cAccess to Water for All\u201d (Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, 2014). In cooperation with UNESCO\u2019s Intersectoral Committee for the Participation Programme, this work focuses on training hydrological technicians in drinking water access, wastewater management, and sanitation infrastructure. Thanks to the Participation Programme, the IAC supported three successful hydrology trainings (2019, 2022\/23, 2024\/25), partnering with local NGOs first in Niger and then in Benin. The courses were held at the 2IE Training Centre in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.<\/p>\r\n

        Clay for Peace \/ Clay without Borders project<\/span>
        Conceived and initiated by Jacques Kaufmann, former IAC president, this flagship IAC project highlights clay\u2014raw or fired, traditional or contemporary\u2014as a vector for dialogue, reconciliation, and peace, particularly in the Middle East. The first organisational stage took place in T\u00fcrkiye, in July 2019.<\/p>\r\n

        • Forum \u201cScience as a Common Good of Humankind\u201d, Moscow, Russian Federation (26-27 November 2018) \u2013 presentation by IAC representatives on the scientific virtues of clay and the Clay for Peace \/ Clay without Borders project, within the session \u201cArt & Sciences in the Service of Peace\u201d.<\/li>\r\n
