Elle a \u00e9galement obtenu un dipl\u00f4me d'enseignante et une licence en sciences sociales de l'universit\u00e9 technologique d'Eindhoven (Pays-Bas), ce qui refl\u00e8te son engagement profond en faveur de l'\u00e9ducation et de la responsabilit\u00e9 sociale.<\/p>\r\n<p>Elle a \u00e9galement perfectionn\u00e9 sa pratique de la c\u00e9ramique en suivant des masterclasses aupr\u00e8s de plusieurs c\u00e9ramistes de renomm\u00e9e internationale, notamment Takeshi Yasuda, Antonia Salmon, David Miller, David Roberts, Sasha Wardell, Steve Mattison et Peter Lane.<\/p>\r\n<p>Patty Wouters a \u00e9t\u00e9 directrice de l'Institut d'\u00e9ducation artistique Atelier Cirkel en Belgique pendant plus de 30 ans. Sous sa direction, l'institut est devenu une plateforme importante pour des cours de longue dur\u00e9e, des ateliers et des masterclasses en c\u00e9ramique et dans d'autres disciplines artistiques, en collaboration avec des \u00e9tablissements d'enseignement et des centres culturels, avec le soutien du minist\u00e8re flamand de la Culture.<\/p>\r\n<p>Entre 2008 et 2014, elle a men\u00e9 \u00e0 bien de nombreuses missions pour une ONG belge au Rwanda et en \u00c9thiopie, conseillant des ateliers de c\u00e9ramique locaux en mati\u00e8re de production, de marketing et de relations publiques afin de renforcer leur viabilit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique et leur identit\u00e9 culturelle.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">\r\n<p>Patty Wouters a \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9e \u00e0 donner des conf\u00e9rences et des d\u00e9monstrations et \u00e0 participer \u00e0 des symposiums sur la c\u00e9ramique dans le monde entier, notamment aux Pays-Bas, en France, en Italie, au Japon, en Cor\u00e9e du Sud, en Australie, aux \u00c9tats-Unis et en Belgique. Elle a organis\u00e9 plusieurs expositions itin\u00e9rantes et fait r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement partie du jury d'\u00e9v\u00e9nements internationaux consacr\u00e9s \u00e0 la c\u00e9ramique.<\/p>\r\n<p>Elle a \u00e9galement effectu\u00e9 des r\u00e9sidences d'artiste en Chine, aux \u00c9tats-Unis, en Espagne, en Australie, en France et en Italie et elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 professeure invit\u00e9e \u00e0 l'universit\u00e9 f\u00e9minine Ewha et \u00e0 l'universit\u00e9 Hanyang \u00e0 S\u00e9oul, ainsi qu'\u00e0 l'universit\u00e9 Keimyung \u00e0 Daegu.<\/p>\r\n<p>Elle a re\u00e7u de nombreux prix pour son travail artistique en Belgique et \u00e0 l'\u00e9tranger, notamment la m\u00e9daille d'honneur en or du conseil municipal de Brasschaat (Anvers) en reconnaissance de ses r\u00e9alisations culturelles internationales exceptionnelles. Cette initiative s'appuiera sur la collaboration avec les membres locaux de l'AIC et pourrait impliquer des \u00e9tudiants universitaires issus de disciplines telles que l'anthropologie, la sociologie et l'histoire, dans le cadre de projets de recherche universitaire.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Am\u00e9lioration de l'\u00e9ducation<\/span><br \/>Favoriser les \u00e9changes entre les \u00e9tablissements d'enseignement et cr\u00e9er des opportunit\u00e9s de formation pour les jeunes d\u00e9favoris\u00e9s. Ces collaborations renforcent l'enseignement de la c\u00e9ramique et favorisent la compr\u00e9hension mutuelle, la sensibilisation culturelle et la tol\u00e9rance.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Recherche environnementale<\/span><br \/>Promouvoir des pratiques c\u00e9ramiques durables, notamment la recherche sur le recyclage des mat\u00e9riaux c\u00e9ramiques, l'utilisation innovante des d\u00e9chets c\u00e9ramiques et les m\u00e9thodes de cuisson respectueuses de l'environnement. Le soutien \u00e0 de telles initiatives peut d\u00e9boucher sur des solutions \u00e9volutives ayant un impact mondial.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">R\u00e9ponse aux crises<\/span><br \/>Rester attentif et r\u00e9actif en cas de crise caus\u00e9e par un conflit, une catastrophe naturelle ou un \u00e9v\u00e9nement li\u00e9 au climat. L'AIC peut jouer un r\u00f4le essentiel dans le soutien aux communaut\u00e9s c\u00e9ramiques touch\u00e9es, comme cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 lors du conflit en Ukraine et en r\u00e9ponse aux inondations, tremblements de terre et ouragans.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Communication am\u00e9lior\u00e9e<\/span><br \/>Renforcer la communication gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des mises \u00e0 jour r\u00e9guli\u00e8res sur les projets AIC-UNESCO via la newsletter et le bulletin de l'AIC, en garantissant la transparence, l'engagement et la participation active des membres.<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>L'argile comme outil de paix<\/p>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><em>\u00ab Plus que jamais, nous devons \u0153uvrer pour la paix. Je suis convaincue que l'argile nous relie et favorise la tol\u00e9rance et la compr\u00e9hension. Les projets \u00e9ducatifs li\u00e9s \u00e0 la c\u00e9ramique peuvent y contribuer. As a representative of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) at UNESCO, she is committed to presenting the organisation's mission and activities, focusing her work on the shared values of artistic practice, education, cultural heritage and social engagement.<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\"><img class=\"alignnone wp-image-89657 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aic-iac.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Portrait_Patty-Wouters-940x1266.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"940\" height=\"1266\" \/><\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n<tr>\r\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Professional Background<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Patty Wouters holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic and Ceramic Design from art schools in Antwerp and Hasselt, Belgium, and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Design and Applied Arts from Wolverhampton University, UK. She also earned a teaching qualification and a BFA in Social Studies from Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands), reflecting her deep commitment to education and social responsibility.<\/p>\r\n<p>Patty has further refined her ceramic practice by taking masterclasses with several internationally renowned ceramists, including Takeshi Yasuda, Antonia Salmon, David Miller, David Roberts, Sasha Wardell, Steve Mattison and Peter Lane.<\/p>\r\n<p>Patty Wouters was the director of the Art Education Institute Atelier Cirkel in Belgium for over 30 years. Under her leadership, the institute became an important platform for long-term courses, workshops and masterclasses in ceramics and other art disciplines in collaboration with educational institutions and cultural centres, with the support of the Flemish Ministry of Culture.<\/p>\r\n<p>Between 2008 and 2014, she undertook multiple assignments for a Belgian NGO in Rwanda and Ethiopia, advising local ceramic studios on production, marketing and public relations to strengthen economic sustainability and cultural identity.<\/p>\r\n<br \/>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">\r\n<p>Patty Wouters has been invited to give lectures and demonstrations and to participate in ceramic symposia all over the world, including in the Netherlands, France, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Australia, the United States and Belgium. She has curated several travelling exhibitions and regularly serves as a jury member for international ceramics events.<\/p>\r\n<p>She has completed artist residencies in China, the United States, Spain, Australia, France and Italy and\u00a0 has been an invited professor at Ewha Womans University and Hanyang University in Seoul, as well as at Keimyung University in Daegu.<\/p>\r\n<p>She has received numerous awards for her artistic work in Belgium and abroad, including the Golden Honourable Medal from the Brasschaat Council (Antwerp) in recognition of her outstanding international cultural achievements. Since 1985, she has held multiple solo exhibitions and participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions.<\/p>\r\n<br \/>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<span class=\"caption\">More information about her artistic practice can be found at: www.pattywouters.be<\/span><\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n<tr>\r\n<td>\u00a0<\/td>\r\n<td>\u00a0<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n<tr>\r\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Vision and Intentions as IAC Representative to UNESCO<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Recognising the scope and responsibility of the IAC Representative role at UNESCO, Patty Wouters emphasises that these ambitions can only be realised through close collaboration with a dedicated team of experienced and motivated IAC members from around the world.<\/p>\r\n<p>Her vision focuses on the following key areas:<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Global Inventory of Ceramic Heritage<\/span><br \/>The aim is to establish a global inventory of ceramic heritage, paying special attention to endangered traditions and communities in urgent need of support. This initiative will rely on collaboration with local IAC members and could involve university students from disciplines such as anthropology, sociology and history, as part of academic research projects.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Education Enhancement<\/span><br \/>Facilitating exchanges between educational institutions and creating training opportunities for disadvantaged youth. These collaborations strengthen ceramic education and foster mutual understanding, cultural awareness and tolerance.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Environmental Research<\/span><br \/>Promoting sustainable ceramic practices, including researching the recycling of ceramic materials, the innovative use of ceramic waste and environmentally responsible firing methods. Supporting such initiatives can lead to scalable solutions with a global impact.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Crisis Response<\/span><br \/>Remaining attentive and responsive in times of crisis caused by conflict, natural disasters or climate-related events. The IAC can play a vital role in supporting affected ceramic communities, as demonstrated during the conflict in Ukraine and in response to floods, earthquakes and hurricanes.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Enhanced Communication<\/span><br \/>Strengthening communication through regular updates on IAC\u2013UNESCO projects via the IAC Newsletter and Bulletin, ensuring transparency, engagement, and active participation among members.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Clay as a Tool for Peace<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><em>\"More than ever, we need to work on peace. I am convinced that clay connects us and promotes tolerance and understanding. Ceramic educational projects can contribute to this.
