2025 New Members Election

The application must be submitted in English or French only.

Applications will close on 31 May 2025 at 5pm (Geneva time).

  • ELECTION CALENDAR:

1 MARCH 2025: Applications for New Member candidates open. The online form becomes available on this page.

31 MAY 2025: Applications close at 5pm (Geneva time). After this date, applications will no longer be accepted.

10 JUNE 2025: Application fees must be paid in order for the application to be valid and included in the election.

BY END OF JUNE: Candidates receive an email confirmation of their application from the IAC Office.

AUTUMN 2025: Candidates are informed of the Council’s decision.



  • GENERAL INFORMATION

— The candidates must be nominated by three individual members of the Academy (3 supporting sponsors). It is strongly recommended that at least one sponsor be from the candidate’s home country.
** Sponsors are limited to three nominations at each election.

— Candidates from countries where there are few or no IAC members and who have difficulties to find three member sponsors should discuss their situations with the Secretariat before submitting any application files: office@aic-iac.org

— The candidates elected by the Council will be introduced by the President of the Academy during the 2026 Congress and General Assembly.

— The candidates must have read and accepted the terms “Privileges and Responsibilities” of membership (available at the end of the application form).

— The candidates are responsible  for providing a complete application dossier via the online application form. Candidates must create their candidate account with a personal email address. (Do not use the email address of a sponsor.)

— Candidates can only apply in one category:
> INDIVIDUAL ARTIST CANDIDATE (Ceramist, designer, architect)
> INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATE (Writer, curator, collector, cultural ambassador, gallerist, restorer, educator, etc)
> CANDIDATE FOR AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP (Museum, gallery, foundation, association, ceramic centre, school, publication, city, etc)

— The documents uploaded by the artist candidate, in case of election, automatically become part of their personal member page on the IAC website.

— The IAC Office cannot reply to each request for application confirmation during the registration period. An official confirmation will be sent out by end of June at the latest.

  • APPLICATION FEE

Payment is made after completing the form. (Methods of payment: Paypal, VISA, MasterCard and bank transfer.)

The application fee has to be paid at the latest by 10 June 2025. If the application fee remains unpaid after this date, the application file will be not submitted for election.

The application fee is scaled based on the candidate’s country of residence. The annual membership fee is scaled in the same way.

  • Group B: 400 CHF

Candidates for Individual Membership

  • ARTIST CANDIDATES
    (Makers as ceramist, designer, architect)

A complete application includes:

— A letter of motivation from the candidate stating the reasons why they wish to become a member of the IAC. The letter should describe the candidate’s contributions to the Academy, to the field of ceramics and to the international community. (1 letter, PDF)

— A letter of recommendation from each of the three sponsors with reasons for their support. Letters of recommendation should explain with a series of rationales why the candidate is worthy of joining the Academy. (3 letters, PDF)

— The candidate’s biographical summary and their CV resume, including date of birth, complete address (telephone, fax, email and web site) and memberships, education, solo and group exhibitions, juried exhibitions, competitions, commissions, collections, scholarships, related professional activity (such as teaching, guest teaching, examiner, lecturer, workshop conductor, relevant administrative and organisational experience), travels/network, awards, bibliography. (1 PDF)

— 5 digital images of work (5 jpeg, png or gif, max dimensions 3000 x 3000 pixels, resolution 300 DPI, max size 7 MB each)

— Add any relevant reviews, articles or catalogues. (max 3 PDF, max 5 MB each)

— Portrait photo ( jpeg, png or gif, max dimensions 3000 x 3000 pixels, resolution 300 DPI, max size 7 MB)

NOTE:
— The affiliation in the category Artist offers the possibility to exhibit in the Members’ Exhibition, subject to the exhibition criteria.

  • OTHER INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATES
    (Writers, curators, collectors, cultural ambassadors, gallerists, restorers, teachers, etc)

A complete application includes:

— A letter of motivation from the candidate stating the reasons why they wish to become a member of the IAC. The letter should describe the candidate’s contributions to the Academy, to the field of ceramics and to the international community. (1 letter, PDF)

— A letter of recommendation from each of the three sponsors with reasons for their support. Letters of recommendation should explain with a series of rationales why the candidate is worthy of joining the Academy. (3 letters, PDF)

— This affiliation does not offer the possibility to exhibit in the Members’ Exhibition.

 

Candidates for Affiliate Membership

  • CANDIDATES FOR AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP
    (Museums, galleries, foundations, associations, ceramic centres, schools, publishers, cities, etc)

Complete application includes:

— A letter of motivation from the candidate stating the reasons why they wish to become a member of the IAC. The letter should describe the candidate’s contributions to the Academy, to the field of ceramics and to the international community. (1 letter, PDF)

— A letter of recommendation from each of the three sponsors with reasons for their support. Letters of recommendation should explain with a series of rationales why the candidate is worthy of joining the Academy. (3 letters, PDF)

— Visual or written evidence of the professional activities of the organisation with appropriate programmes, membership lists, exhibitions and other evidence of professional activity in ceramics. (5 PDF max 5 MB each).

— Logo ( jpeg, png or gif, max dimensions 3000 x 3000 pixels, resolution 300 DPI, max size 7 MB)

NOTE:
— This affiliation does not offer the possibility to exhibit in the Members’ Exhibition.
