Yue Lizhi, a ceramic artist and college teacher, centers his creative work around clay materials. He is passionate about experimenting and exploring materials and techniques, often delving into the realm of open and boundless concepts for his artistic practice. He firmly believes that artwork should be intriguing, establish interactive connections, and seek dynamic possibilities.
In his recent work, he primarily uses non-firing clay to demonstrate the freme. Recognizing that high-temperature firing in ceramics entails increased energy consumption, he has shifted his focus towards utilizing clay materials with adequate structural strength for most creative purposes. In doing so, he has embarked on experiments and explorations involving low-temperature firing, non-firing techniques, and the recycling of discarded materials. He combines clay with other solidifying materials and incorporates elements like discarded ceramics, shells, and plant fibers. This innovative approach may provide a potential direction for addressing the issues of creativity and energy consumption.
