Misun Rheem
Mi-sun Rheem is a curator specialising in contemporary ceramics and Korean crafts. She is a lecturer at Pusan National University. She served as the artistic director for the 2024 Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale (GCB) Korea and the Cheongju Craft Biennale 2021 Korea. She has held positions as a director of the crafts division at the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF) and as a member of the Korea Craft Culture Industry Promotion Committee. Both institutions are under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea. She was the 2nd director and chief curator of the Clayarch Gimhae Museum. Her major curated exhibitions include the 1st and 2nd GICB International Ceramic Competition, Contemporary Ceramics, and the IAC & NCECA Members Exhibition. Notable exhibitions she curated include ‘Korea Now: Korean Craft & Design’ at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 2015, ‘Korean Craft: The Art of Craftmanship’ for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, the 2021 Cheongju Craft Biennale, the 2023 ‘Korea-China-Japan Crafts’ Triennial, the 2024 Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale(GCB) and the 2025 APEC Commemorative exhibition-Korean Crafts: ‘Heritage for Tomorrow’ are among her major curated exhibitions and projects.
