Mariel Andrea Tarela

I work as a ceramist and researcher in Contemporary Ceramics with an emphasis on ceramic arts and assembly in Argentina; its history and impact on
ceramics and on those artists who use clay in contemporary sculpture and other artistic practices.
I could not separate my own artistic practice from my academic activity as an associate professor at the Faculty of Arts of the National University of La Plata, Argentina; as a PhD researcher and professor of History of Ceramic Arts, Contemporary Ceramic Arts and Ceramic Modeling at the Fernando Arranz Higher School of Artistic Education in Buenos Aires. Researching, writing, and lecturing on contemporary ceramics and its plural aesthetic features and historical roots also constitutes a large part of my work. Everything I read and see in the specialized bibliography, on the one hand, and the critical dialogues with the younger generations of students and colleagues, on the other, contribute to confront my certainties and enhance my work as an artist.
I’ve been doing it for so long, it really has become the way I think about myself, it has become a significant part of my life.
