Since childhood I have seen clay around me. Born in a family with a tradition of working in clay from many generations, I was introduced to clay very early in life.
When I had to decide on my thesis topic, I always known that I had to do something which would take the existing forte of family traditional a step further.
I wanted to indulge creating a ceramics form which would take roots form my traditional but would be contemporary in scope. I envisage that this will give my family work a new meaning and take it further.
“Kashi Kari” the ancient art of decorating ceramic tiles and other objects, has been my family’s occupation for more than 400 years. Not much has changed since in terms of the objects and their treatments and that’s why the same techniques are applied to get similar results.
