Redhouse Ceramics Studio

RedHouse Ceramics Studio was co-founded in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China in 2011 by Takeshi YASUDA, Felicity AYLIEFF and Baixu XIONG. Primarily it was established to make and promote our ceramic works, but now our activities have increased and we are involved in exhibitions, lectures, education and also undertake commissions, site-specific projects, and design for small batch production.

YASUDA is Japanese trained with multicultural experience, AYLIEFF is a British artist working in ceramic and involved in education internationally. XIONG is Chinese, local to Jingdezhen and widely travelled with experience of art promotion and curation. Coming from different countries and combined with our individual expertise, it brings a unique diversity of resource, capabilities as well as cultural perspective to RedHouse.

As a professional team that works in the arts and creative fields, we are constantly striving to push the boundaries of the materials and the skills employed in making works. We believe it is vital for us to understand and be open, and flexible in our thinking, and this approach is reflected in the range of our creativities.

In 2017, we moved our studio to a new home in Taoxichuan, a recently restored and refurbished industrial ceramic factory that forms part of a significant cultural development in the center of Jingdezhen City. It is here that you can visit and see us at work.
