Jia-Haur Liang was born in 1977, Taipei, Taiwan. He is a ceramics artist and academics. He maintains a broad practice and writing in Crafts and Design, especially in Ceramics with a specific focus on sculptural and installation works. He holds BFA and MFA with teaching certificate from National Taiwan University of Arts where he studied Ceramics from 1996 to 2002. Jia-haur completed his PhD from The University of Sydney, Australia in 2009. In 2016, he curated an international show: Stunning Edge: Contemporary Ceramic Art in Asia at National Taiwan Crafts Institute which includes 380 artworks from 55 universities in China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Currently, Jia-haur is an Associate Prof. of Ceramics at the Dept. of Crafts and Design, National Taiwan University of Arts. He has supervised more than 40 master’s graduates and has done 5 solo shows, 70 group shows, 13 conference papers, 21 journal articles, 6 book chapters and 4 books.
