Anca Ion
Anca Ion is a Spanish informative craftswoman, she is also graduated in Contemporary Applied Arts, Fire Arts in ceramics and glass at Massana school and University Autonomous of Barcelona. Recently she was selected to be part of Homo Faber guide and events.
She tries to have an active role in perpetuating the theoretical craft and practical heritage. She is looking always for originality, and she tries to use the right materials in new shapes and ways creating unique and intricate pieces of ceramic.
She creates intricate sculptures inspired by microscopic studies of moss, leaves, branches and tree barks. After this extensive research, she uses her skills and she puts in practice her techniques to create ceramic sculptures. The research into the natural environment and the scientific analysis through a microscope, provide her a lot of valuable information, it gives her the opportunity to combine the ceramic techniques in a creative way to make a unique sculpture out of clay.
The aesthetics of her work is to make visible that normally is invisible in the nature.
She creates the ceramic sculpture inspired in the landscape and nature, forests and trees. In her work she uses the traditional techniques, hand building, wheel throwing and added.
Through her ceramics sculptures she tries to give another interpretation of the nature using her imagination and her own sensibility and experience to evolve the sculpture in the most beautiful way. Her work is easy to be recognize for her individual creations.
